Abstract

One of the goals of this action research was to educate students who lack knowledge about speaking in English. English as the universal language is the one that we usually use in schools. We should learn and understand English because we also used this language for academic purposes and communication. Learning how to speak English fluently is one of the problems many Filipinos have. Through speaking, we can open our minds, express ourselves, and communicate with others. A qualitative method was used in this study by using a descriptive research design. This study involved 50 selected grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management Strandstudents. The results of this study showed that most students are experiencing difficulty in pronunciation mainly because of the lack of knowledge about unfamiliar words and correct pronunciation. The study revealed that some students are experiencing low self-esteem because they have difficulty speaking English. It also affects students’ personal communication with others because they received criticism from other people.
