Impact of Whole Day Class Schedule on Academic Performance of Selected Grade 12 Students in General Academic Strand of Bestlink College of the Philippines

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the academic performance of students based on their current schedule. The study sought to determine the types of schedules that are currently in use, the current state data available for school with different schedules, and what teachers and staff see as major benefits and challenges of the available schedule. The main aim of this study was to determine the impact of a whole day class schedule on the academic performance of selected Grade 12 General Academic Strand students in Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study used a quantitative descriptive research design that will elaborate the guidelines to be taken by the implementation of the impact of whole day class schedule on the academic performance of students. Purposive sampling was utilized to select 50 General Academic Strand students. The results showed that the impact of the whole day class schedule on the academic performance of students is evident in terms of finances, with the weighted means of 3.75 and 3.84 for male and female respondents, respectively, both of which were interpreted as strongly agree. In terms of health, the weighted mean for male respondents was 3.8, with a verbal interpretation of “agree,” and the weighted mean for female respondents was 3.58, with the verbal interpretation “strongly agree.” With the weighted means of 3.72 and 3.6 for male and female respondents, respectively, both groups agreed that the whole day class schedule has an impact on the physical aspect of students. With the overall weighted means of 3.75 and 3.67 for male and female respondents, respectively, both groups strongly agreed that the whole day schedule has an impact on the academic performance of students in terms of their finances, health, and physical aspect. Based on the findings of the study and the conclusions that were drawn, the researchers forwarded the following recommendations. Students should save the extra money for otherschool activities, maintain their priorities in spending money to avoid having problems if they are short on their budget, drink enough water to help boost their concentration, take a short nap to boost their energy levels, take a calming walk before taking an exam, teaching calming breathing strategies that can be used in stressful situations, and increase the amount of daily physical activity.Keywords: impact, whole day class schedule
