Abstract

The impact of Smart shaming and level of Self-esteem on academic performance has been
more affected in terms of relationships, disconnects, and distances oneself from people due to
discomfort and shame. Class examination results due to less to no interest in learning to avoid
shame. Low self-esteem is caused by being shamed for showing good qualities. A person can
be suppressed and will stay on mediocre performance to avoid catching attention.

According to the statistics, smart shaming can impair freshmen students' self-esteem and
academic performance in a variety of ways. Finally, researchers believe that raising
awareness can help to reduce or even eliminate smart shaming as a negative attitude that
some or the majority of people have grown accustomed to. This study also revealed that when
a learner is subjected to smart shaming, it can have a negative impact on his or her academic
performance. Researchers believe spreading awareness may be helpful in preventing or even
helping to avoid completely eliminating the negative impact of smart shaming on academic
performance.

According to the findings, when a freshman student is subjected to smart shaming, it can have
an effect on his self-esteem, motivation, and emotional and mental well-being, but it can have
a substantial impact on his relationships with others. The gathered data also demonstrated
that when a freshman student is subjected to smart shaming, it can have a detrimental
influence on his class attendance, participation, and examinations, as well as his emotional
and mental well-being at school; difficulties that freshman learners encounter when they are
subjected to smart shaming are also supported by this study since their self-esteem and
academic performance suffer as a result. Based on the research results, the students' smart
shaming and level of self-esteem had a negative impact on his/her academic performance.
This study helps them to be able to learn not only to identify bullying and its forms that may
cause them anxiety but also to learn to stand their ground and remain kind, friendly, accepting,
and encouraging to one another, especially in persevering to achieve greatness in any
discipline. Thus, the researchers deduced that the smart shaming and level of self-esteem
affected the respondents’ academic performance and learning behavior during class. Every
student should overcome this to ensure that no one feels ashamed for using their intelligence;
students must address the issue and make it more noticeable.
