Effects of K-12 Program on Academic Achievements of Selected Grade 12 General Academic Strand Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines

Abstract

The K-12 Educational System is additional years to the secondary level. This research contains information about the K-12 curriculum, which means the present four years in high school. The poor quality of basic education is reflected in the low achievement scores of Filipino students because students do not get adequate instructional time or tasks. The main aim of this study was to determine the effects of the K-12 program on the academic achievements of selected Grade 12 General Academic Strand students in Bestlink College of the Philippines, S.Y. 2019–2020. The study used quantitative descriptive research design that will elaborate on the recommendations to be taken to determine the effects of the K-12 program. Purposive sampling was utilized to choose 50 General Academic Strand students to assess the effects of the K-12 program on the academic achievements of the students. The results showed that K-12 program has an effect on the academic achievements of students in terms of knowledge with the weighted means of 2.88 for male respondents and 3.71 for female respondents, both of which had a verbal interpretation of strongly agree. The K-12 program has an impact on academic achievements in terms of performance skills, with the weighted means of 3.13 for male respondents, with the verbal interpretation of agree, and 3.74 for female respondents, with the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. In terms of attitude, with the weighted mean of 3.31 for male respondents and 3.41 for female respondents, both groups agreed that it has an impact on academic achievement. With the overall weighted mean of 3.11 for male respondents, with the verbal interpretation of agree, and 3.41 for female respondents, with the verbal interpretation of strongly agree, K-12 program has effects on the academic achievements of the students in terms of their knowledge, performance skills, and attitude. Based on the findings of the study and the conclusions that were drawn, the following recommendations were forwarded: provide effective training and an ongoing learning and support system; be fully prepared, updated, and organized; and take time to develop your skills and cooperate to your groups during activity.
