Abstract

Plastic bottles significantly contribute to the waste materials produced by people. Students often use these things to satisfy their needs inside or outside the school. Hence, they need to be responsible and disciplined enough for their trash. By educating the students to learn proper segregation, willingness toparticipate, and also by recycling the plastic bottles collected, they can help in improving the atmosphere of the school and their contribution to developingthe school’s environment. This study aims to involve the students in the collection of plastic bottles and encourages them to turn them into useful materials that are beneficial to them and can be potential products in the future. The researchers used qualitative-descriptive research design, which involves observing and describing the behavior of a subject without influencing it in any way. To gather the data needed, this study used a survey because it is reliable and the most applicable method that researchers can use. A total of 90 respondents from sections 1–10 were selected through simple random sampling. Based on the findings of the study, involving Grade 12 ABM students in the collection of plastic bottles promoted the following. (1) Maintain a clean environment and effective waste management in school –the number of plastic bottles thrown anywhere was lessened successfully. By consistently collecting and disposing of solid waste materials such as plastic bottles properly, the students developed the good practice of waste management. (2) Promote discipline, creativity, and leadership among the students –since they participated, they developed a sense of responsibility in managing their trash and became motivated to continue this practice of proper waste management in their homes. In this study, the students need to understand the importance of having a clean environment. The teachers should encourage their students more and support activities promoting cleanliness of the classroom and school. This practice will help the school personnel to continue the proper segregation of wastes. This study highly recommended the practice of proper segregation in the school and conduct entrepreneurial activities turning plastic wastes into useful products that are beneficial to the students, teachers, and the school.
