Effectiveness of Creating Pot and Plant Holder by Using Recyclable 1.5 L Softdrinks Plastic Bottles among Grade 12 ABM Strand Students in Bestlink College of the Philippines
Abstract
This research was conducted to recognize that plastics are useful and play a crucial role in the environment. Many people are using plastic, but they never reuse or recycle it. Most plastics are nonbiodegradable that can last for a decade or a century. Given the durability of plastic, it can affect landfills and oceans and causes environmental damage. Recycling is the most important practice to reduce plastic. Recycling can create many products that can be sold as a business. The purpose of this research was to save the environment by recycling plastic bottles. The research was conducted to improve the waste management in our school and minimize plastic waste. This research improved the students’ creativity and taught students to have discipline. The research method used was descriptive. The respondents were Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management Strandstudents of Bestlink College of the Philippines, S.Y. 2019–2020. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling to easily gather all the needed data by selecting 10 respondents in every section to represent the entire population. This study improved plastic waste in the school environment, creativity, and discipline of a student. This result also showed that recycling is an effective way to minimize plastic waste. Students became responsible for managing plastic waste. The majority had a positive effect in terms of health because it helped the students inhale fresh air in their classroom and made the students more creative. Adding plastic potholders in a classroom is extremely unique. Thus, its presence makes the classroom more attractive. However, it will make the students accountable for their surroundings. This study suggested that the students should be responsible for maintaining and managing plastic waste. It also needs students’ cooperation to make this research effective and successful. This study can help reduce pollution from plastic bottles that can be seen anywhere by making creative and colorful pots using 1.5 plastic bottles for plants, which is an affordable way to make pots at home.Keywords: recycling, source of income, waste management, student’s creativity
