Abstract

This study aims to lessen the plastic waste in Bestlink College of the Philippines to maintain cleanliness and improve the students’ ability to love and protect the environment, teaching them the proper way of throwing garbage/waste. The researchers placedrecycle bin in every classroom to avoid throwing trash everywhere. They also placed signage saying “NO LITTERING.” The importance of creating a recycle bin in every classroom is to educate the students on the proper way of segregating and recycling. Biodegradable and nonbiodegradable wastes should be separated to decompose and recycle properly. Recycling will lessen the harmful effect that causes pollutions to our environment. This study used a descriptive research design because it describes the information easily. The researchers also used a survey questionnaire because it is useful when gathering information. The respondents of this study were 50 selected Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Managementstudents from sections 10–15 with a class schedule ofT-TH-S. The researchers used a nonprobability technique because any of the population being selected was unknown. Creating plastic bottle recycle bins will lessen solid plastic wastes. It will teach the students how to segregate their waste properly and help the environment to maintain its beauty and cleanliness. Based on the results, creating a recycle bin made of plastic bottlespromotes the following. (1) Proper segregation –It lessened improper waste disposal. Proper segregation improvedwaste management and helped the environment become more attractive and cleaner. (2) Creativity in recycling plastic bottles –Plastic bottles can be recycled into something new. Students can enhance their abilities to do recyclable outputs or creative handicrafts, such as Christmas decorations, flower vases, and lamps. Creating recycled trash bins made out of plastic bottles reduced the plastic solid waste in Bestlink College of the Philippines. The recycling behavior of students improved by providing plastic bottle recycle binsbecause the researchers observed that upon collecting, the number of plastic bottles increased compared with when researchers collected the bins in every classroom. The students have theinitiative to help in recycling plastic bottles by placing them in the recycle bins instead of throwing them anywhere.
