Abstract

Lagundi (Virtex negundo) isa medicinal herbal plant that can cure and relieve asthma, cough, and itchy skin; promote healthy skin; and treat digestive problems. It has potential as an anti-cancer medicine and tonic for the liver. The researchers added lagundi to the classic puto made of rice flour. This puto version is one that a person can make at home. The experimental research design was utilized here, and simple random sampling was used to select respondents. The instrument used was a survey questionnaire. The researchers involved 50 Grade 12 Home Economics(HE) Strandstudents and 10 HE teachers from Bestlink College of the Philippines. The assessment of puto lagundi was according to taste, aroma, nutritional value, competitiveness, and presentation. From the Likert scale of 5 to 1, the respondents rated taste and aroma as acceptable, with the weighted means of 3.05 and 3.37 respectively. The assessment rating for nutritional value, competitiveness, and presentation was highly acceptable, with the weighted means of 4.35, 4.28, and 3.68, respectively. Hence, puto lagundi is highly acceptable. Further study about this product should be undertaken to improve the product in terms of taste, aroma, nutritional value, competitiveness, and presentation. Researchers think that the best alternative for lagundi ischili leaves. Respondents suggested that if the researcher will sell this product in the market, further study should be undertaken.
