Abstract

The hotel and restaurant management system (HRMS) is used to provide the needs of the customers and the company. In the hospitality industry, this kind of system is needed to give what is best for the customer and the fast growth of the business. Finance is a broad term that describes activities and business transaction that involves money. Using standardized guidelines, the transactions are recorded, summarized, and presented in a financial report. A general ledger is used to sort, store, and summarize a company’s financial data to help prepare the company’s financial reports, such as general journal, general ledger, trial balance, and financial statements. The development team used agile methodology to create this project. It is a type of project management process that is used for software development; it has a series of sprints, in which every sprint has multiple tasks with restricted time duration to develop a functional system. In the agile method, there is a development cycle that should be followed, as follows: requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and review. The development team gathered information and planned the solutions for the specific problems of the system. The team also created a prototype and proposed to the product owner to get feedback. The team also identified the defects of the system and resolved them to meet the requirements, ensuring that the proposed system was properly working. The development team gathered all of the requirements and information needed for the process of the general ledger system. The team designed and created a prototype of the software based on the information and data gathered. The development team created a general ledger system that automatically provided the financial reports of the company after the insertion of the transaction. This system created by the team lessened the workload and time consumed in preparing financial reports. As a result, the development team successfully created a well-designed and properly working general ledger system. The development team created a general ledger system that provides the needs of the users. The system was designed to perform a general ledger task that will automatically provide financial reports upon inserting the transaction into the system. However, even if this system is properly working, this project can be a subject of upgrading. Future researchers may use this project study as a basis for creating a new project and may upgrade the system.
