Abstract

Pastillas are one of the famous delicacies in the Philippines. It is a candy-like dessert that is made of carabao milk and confectionery sugar. Many people love pastillas because it is very handy; you can eat and buy it in souvenir shops. The researchers used tomato because it has many health benefits. It is a great source of antioxidants and lycopene that can help reduce the chances of having cancer and heart diseases. The researchers used the descriptive method of research to ascertain prevailing conditions affecting a given group. The instrument used here was questionnaire. The findings showed that the students had composite weighted means of 4.53in terms of taste,4.64in terms of aroma,4.99 in terms of nutritional value, and 4.02in terms of presentation. The total composite weighted mean for the studentswas4.80, with the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. The teachers had composite weighted means of 3.4 in terms of taste, 3.48in terms of aroma,4.35in terms of nutritional value, and 4.25 in terms of presentation. The total composite weighted mean for the teacherswas3.87, with the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. In terms of taste, the respondents indicated that tomato pastillas is not salty, has a well-blended flavor, is delicious, and is appetizing. In terms of aroma, the respondents indicated that tomato pastillas has a pleasant smell; the two groups of respondents moderately disagreed that it has a foul odor and strongly agreed that it has a pleasing smell that makes you lick your lips. In terms of nutritional value, the two groupsof respondents strongly agreed that the product is rich in vitamins and minerals, is good for the heart,and has low cholesterol. In terms ofpresentation,the two groups of respondents strongly agree. The four indicators emphasized by the respondents that should be improved were complexity, clean and neat presentation, safe handling, and aesthetic appeal. Therefore, the researchers concluded that our product is acceptable in the market.
