Assessment on Acceptability of Pork Siomai Malunggay in Bestlink College of the Philippines

Abstract

Siomai is the trend nowadays because it is very delicious and affordable. Malunggay (Moringa oleifera)is commonly referred to as the “miracle tree.”The researchers added malunggay to siomai because it is very nutritious and rich in antioxidants that may lower blood sugar levels, may reduce inflammation, may lower cholesterol, and may protect against arsenic toxicity. The researchers used an experimental research design. The researchers also used a survey questionnaire as the instrument to gather information. Simple random sampling was used to select the respondents. Generally, the findings showed that the total composite weighted means in terms of taste were3.715 for studentsand3.05 for teachers. In terms of aroma, the total weighted means were3.94 for studentsand2.7 for teachers. In terms of the nutritional value, the total weighted means were4.25 for studentsand3.9 for teachers. In terms of presentation, the total weighted means were4.29 for studentsand4.2 for teachers. The total composite weighted meanswere4.05 for students and 3.46 for teachers, which had the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. In terms of the taste of pork siomai malunggay, the average weighted means were3.715 for students and 3.05 for teachers. In terms of aroma, the average weighted means were 3.94 for students and 2.7 for teachers. In terms of nutritional value, the average weighted means were 4.25 for students and 3.9 for teachers. In terms of presentation, the average weighted means were 4.29 for students and 4.2 for teachers. The overall weighted means were4.05 for students and 3.46 for teachers, which both had the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. Based on the findings, the difference between the two groups of respondents was not significant. The researchers conducted this study to reach goal, which is to sell this product. The researchers hope that this paper can be used as a reference in future studies.
