THE SIGNIFICANCE SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN CRIME AWARENESS PROGRAM IN BARANGAY SAN AGUSTIN NOVALICHES QUEZON CITY

Abstract

Initiating a crime awareness program is not only a proactive measure but also an essential endeavor toward promoting safer neighborhoods. Programs that raise public awareness about crime are crucial for educating people on various topics related to crime, from prevention techniques to the consequences of criminal activity. These initiatives enhance public awareness, enabling individuals to identify potential risks, make informed decisions, and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and others. This study employs a descriptive quantitative research design. The descriptive method is used to examine and understand the characteristics and aspects of a particular phenomenon. Data will be gathered through a questionnaire to assess the importance of crime awareness and emergency response programs. The study will involve 50 respondents, including 14 barangay officials, 13 Kabataan members, and 23 community members, all of whom are residents or employees in Barangay San Agustin, Quezon City. This chapter presents the tables, data analysis, and interpretation of the information gathered by the researchers. It includes the profile of the respondents, survey questions, and statistical treatment used in the study. In the municipal government, the youth sector is represented by the Sangguniang Kabataan. By participating in crime awareness activities, young people can actively contribute to promoting safety and security in their communities. This involvement fosters a sense of leadership and responsibility among the youth. In conclusion, the significance of implementing a crime awareness program within the Sangguniang Kabataan lies in its ability to engage and empower young people. It addresses specific issues that affect them, implements preventive and intervention measures, encourages community cooperation, builds trust with law enforcement, and ultimately leads to lasting improvements in community safety and welfare.
