Abstract

Juvenile delinquency refers to antisocial, criminal, or illegal behavior among children and adolescents. Despite various intervention programs designed to address the root causes of juvenile delinquency such as education, counseling, and rehabilitation, the prevalence of deviant behavior remains high. This study aims to determine the impact of illegal drugs as a contributing factor to the deviant behavior of children in conflict with the law (CICL) in Barangay Baesa, Quezon City. This study employed a quantitative research design to examine the influence of illegal drug use on the deviant behavior of CICL. Data were gathered from 50 respondents, divided into two groups: CICL and their parents. The study focused solely on Barangay Baesa, Quezon City, and findings cannot be generalized to other locations. A survey questionnaire was the primary data collection tool. The data collected were analyzed using mean, frequency, percentage, and weighted mean. The findings revealed insights into the educational profile and other significant factors influencing the behavior of CICL in Barangay Baesa. Based on the data and conclusions drawn, the study highlights the need to strengthen family support systems, provide counseling services, and implement prevention programs to educate youth about the dangers of illegal drugs. Encouraging positive peer relationships through community activities can also help prevent delinquency.
