Abstract

Drug abuse is a serious issue that affects communities worldwide, including Novaliches, Quezon City. In response to this growing concern, the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) was established with the goal of preventing drug misuse and promoting a drug-free community. The rise in drug addiction and the subsequent surrender of individuals involved in illegal drug activities present significant challenges for both communities and governments. In Novaliches, this issue has become increasingly prevalent, necessitating effective interventions to address the needs of drug surrenderees.  One such intervention is the community-based rehabilitation program, which aims to provide comprehensive support and assistance to individuals seeking recovery from drug addiction. These programs are designed to address not only the physical aspects of addiction but also the psychological, emotional, and social factors that contribute to substance abuse. The goal is to help individuals rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society successfully. The response data from the chosen respondents were analyzed utilizing frequency and percentage distribution methods. A weighted mean was employed to assess the influence of community-based rehabilitation on drug surrenderers in Novaliches, Quezon City, who have ceased the use of illegal substances. To enhance clarity and facilitate interpretation, Likert scales were incorporated to aid in the verbal analysis of the findings. This methodology effectively underscores the impact of the rehabilitation program on the participants' recovery and overall advancement. The respondents demonstrate that heightened community engagement and support play a crucial role in the effectiveness of rehabilitation initiatives for individuals who have surrendered illegal drugs. Challenges were noted among the respondents regarding their ability to assist in the recovery and reintegration of these individuals into society. In light of the identified issues, it is feasible to suggest measures aimed at addressing the concerns associated with the community-based rehabilitation program in Barangay Novaliches, Quezon City. Enhance the availability of healthcare services, encompassing addiction treatment, mental health counseling, and medical care, for individuals who have surrendered illegal drugs in Novaliches, Quezon City, by broadening service delivery and minimizing obstacles to access. Implement educational initiatives and workshops focused on addiction recovery, life skills, financial literacy, and other pertinent subjects to equip illegal drug surrenderers with the essential knowledge and resources necessary for a successful recovery journey.
