Barangays play a vital role in governing and managing their respective communities. They serve as local service providers and ensure the safety of their jurisdiction through effective implementation of policies. This study focuses on crime monitoring in Barangay 176 Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, with the aim of enhancing security measures by establishing a barangay outpost. The study seeks to determine whether setting up an outpost can provide a more efficient and systematic way of recording and managing crime-related information, ultimately improving crime prevention efforts. This study employed a descriptive research design using a quantitative approach to evaluate the effectiveness of barangay outposts in crime monitoring. Respondents from Barangay 176 Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, were selected using purposive sampling. The researchers sought permission from barangay officials to conduct surveys among the patrol unit and Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO). After approval, questionnaires were distributed and collected to gather data on the perceptions and experiences of respondents regarding crime monitoring through the establishment of barangay outposts. The study revealed that the majority of the 100 respondents were aged between 42 and 50 years old (29%). Males comprised 64% of the respondents, while 42% were married. Regarding educational attainment, 32% of the respondents were high school graduates. The primary challenges in crime monitoring through barangay outposts were "inefficient coordination between neighboring barangays and outposts" and "weak or poorly enforced policies related to crime monitoring," both ranked highest with a frequency of 56% among respondents. The study highlights the need to enhance crime monitoring through the establishment of barangay outposts. The researchers recommend prioritizing resource allocation, improving coordination with local law enforcement agencies, and implementing measures such as better lighting and well-maintained surroundings to create safer environments. Additionally, barangay outposts should be adequately staffed, well-equipped, and strategically located to effectively address the specific crime-related challenges within the community.
