UNDERSTANDING THE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO DRUGS ABUSED IN BARANGAY 167 IN CALOOCAN CITY

This study aimed to understand the factors contributing to drug abuse in Barangay 167, Caloocan City. A quantitative research approach was adopted to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Using this method, the researchers gathered and analyzed data systematically from the study’s respondents.
A sampling technique was employed to select participants for the study. Before data collection, the researchers sought permission from their research adviser to conduct a survey. The study involved a total of fifty (50) respondents, composed of twenty (20) drug surrenders, ten (10) barangay officials, and twenty (20) residents. These participants shared their lived experiences concerning drug abuse in Barangay 167, Caloocan City. This chapter describes and discusses how the researchers gathered the necessary data and information used throughout the study. It outlines the research design, respondents, sampling techniques, instruments employed, and the statistical treatment of data. This study utilized a descriptive research method to investigate the factors contributing to drug misuse. According to Creswell (2014), descriptive methods are valuable for observing, describing, and documenting phenomena in their natural settings. The majority of the respondents were male, aged between 42 and 50 years old, and were high school graduates. Most of them were married. The respondents’ assessment of the factors contributing to drug abuse in Barangay 167, Caloocan City, was interpreted as “Strongly Agree” in terms of community awareness, personal experience, environmental concerns, and social media influence. To increase the availability and accessibility of mental health services within Barangay 167, including counseling, therapy, and medication.
Needs Assessment:
Conduct surveys among residents, healthcare workers, and local leaders to identify the specific mental health needs of the community, assess the prevalence of mental health issues, and identify gaps in available services.
Objectives:
Ensure that at least 80% of barangay residents have access to affordable and effective mental health services within the next two years.
Establish sustainable mental health programs that provide counseling, therapy, and medication within the barangay.
Timeline:
1 to 3 months for community health assessment, resource mapping, and program planning.

₱200,000 allocated for the training of Barangay Health Workers.
