Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the significance of the Emergency Response Team in preventing crimes against property during natural disasters. Specifically, it aims to assess their performance in terms of timely response, quality of emergency procedures, security measures, and community satisfaction. Additionally, the study seeks to identify the challenges faced by the Emergency Response Team and to propose appropriate measures to address these challenges. Utilizing a descriptive research design, the study involves a total of fifty (50) respondents, comprising ten (10) members of the Emergency Response Team and forty (40) community members. Respondents are selected through purposive sampling. Data and information are gathered using a structured survey questionnaire designed to assess perceptions and experiences related to emergency response and crime prevention during natural disasters. The results of the study show that the majority of respondents are between the ages of 26 to 35. In terms of gender, 29 respondents are male. Most respondents are single, and the majority have attained a high school level of education.

In Part 2 of the survey, the respondents strongly agreed on the effectiveness of the Emergency Response Team in the areas of Timely Response, Quality of Emergency Procedures, Security Measures, and Community Satisfaction.

The most commonly encountered challenge by the Emergency Response Team is the limited availability of emergency response equipment and disaster supplies. To enhance service quality, it is recommended that the Local Government Unit (LGU) allocate additional funding for advanced equipment, such as transport vehicles for community surveillance and rapid response, as well as communication devices like two-way radios to improve coordination. Additionally, the wider dissemination of emergency hotlines, especially through social media platforms, is suggested to ensure the public is well-informed and can easily access emergency assistance when needed. The study highlights that the Emergency Response Team plays a vital role in every community, particularly in preventing crimes against property during natural disasters. Findings indicate that the team consistently arrives promptly at disaster scenes, contributing significantly to timely intervention. Their clear and well-structured emergency procedures help mitigate property crimes in disaster-affected areas. Furthermore, their efforts in maintaining security both during and after disasters are evident. Feedback from community members reflects a high level of satisfaction with the team's overall performance and dedication.
