Abstract

This study focused on improving the moral values of Grade 12 students through values formation discussion. The importance of our topic is to give an idea to every student that teachers must be respected for playing an important role in the life of the students. Aside from parents, teachers also shape the student’s character by imparting knowledge, especially about having a good impression of themselves. This topic was chosen because the researchers want to remind students that teachers are our second parents. Teachers are not strangers nor our enemies. The purpose of our study was to teach some students who do not use the correct manner of speech to some personnel, especially teachers, and improve the moral values of every individual. The researchers used a descriptive research design and survey to collect the desired information from Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM)students. The data were gathered by giving questionnaires to the respondents. The researchers chose six respondents from ABM 12-01 to 12-08 and additional two respondents from ABM 12-07 for a total of 50 respondents. Based on the results of the study, the inclusion of values education in the classroom discussion improved the moral values of the students in terms of (1) social development (everyone has different beliefs that affect their social development; through values education, they learned to respect others’ beliefs and treat others with respect, especially teachers) and (2) school environment (students develop a positive mindset and show respects to co-students, especially to teachers and visitors. To maintain and continuously improve the moral values of the senior high school students, the researchers recommended that school administrators should elaborate and effectively discuss the school core values and ethics in the students’ orientation. Teachers must also be knowledgeable in implementing the core values of the school and continuously include values education in class discussions. Students must be compliant with school core values and apply their learning from values education.
