Abstract

At present, technology is easier and more convenient. Resurrection Catholic School, which was formerly known as Pagkabuhay Parochial School, was established in1983. Resurrection Catholic School as an educational institution was dedicated to the development of Catholic Filipino children. This school offered nursery, kindergarten, and preparatory and gradually expanded to elementary from Grade 1 to Grade 6. At present, Resurrection Catholic School has 200 students in total. However, Resurrection Catholic School uses a manual library system. Thus, the librarian has difficulty in checking if the books are available or not. Hence, the researchers created a computerized library system for Resurrection Catholic School. To create a computerized library system, the researchers used the systems development life cycle (SDLC) waterfall model. The life cycle defines a methodology for improving the quality of software and the overall development process. SDLC waterfall is a step-by-step system that has seven phases, including planning, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance, to guide the system successfully. SDLC waterfall is simple and user-friendly that satisfies all the needs in a library. The researchers need to gather all data and conduct an interview and observation with the client. Resurrection Catholic School has problems in using a manual system, such as lack of data security (all the information are only on paper), poor data storage (the client cannot store a large amount of data), improperly arranged books (the librarian cannot find where the books are located quickly), and difficulties in monitoring borrowed and unreturned books. Hence, the researchers created a computerized library system for Resurrection Catholic School to solve the problem of the client in the library because using a computerized library system can help the librarian and students. The librarian can add books to the database easily, and the system can easily track the availability of books. Using this system, the librarian can monitor users with overdue borrowed books and reading materials. The system also has a search bar to easily find the book the student need and determine if it is available or not. The database stores a large amount of data and prints reports. The computerized library system also has a large impact and advancement in Resurrection Catholic School because it is high-tech and can be popular mostly with the students of the school. Future researchers can improve this system by gathering ideas and improving the librarian’s skills in computers and widening their knowledge of the system.
