THE IMPACT OF FIRE SAFETY IN BARANGAY MAPULANG LUPA VALENZUELA, CITY

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of fire and safety prevention drills in promoting public safety and protecting lives and property. Fire prevention drills are crucial for preventing fire-related incidents and ensuring a swift emergency response. The study will explore the functions and responsibilities associated with fire safety and prevention drills, assess their effectiveness in preventing fires and handling emergencies, and propose potential improvements. These drills are essential for preparing individuals and communities to respond effectively during a fire emergency, ultimately safeguarding well-being and reducing risks. The respondents in this study are divided into three groups: 20 barangay officials, 20 community members, and 10 personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), for a total of 50 participants who have been involved in fire safety activities. The researchers used simple random sampling to select participants, ensuring a representative sample from the target population. This study will primarily utilize a quantitative research approach, which involves the collection and analysis of numerical data. Additionally, qualitative research may be used to identify patterns, averages, make predictions, test causal relationships, and generalize the findings to a larger population. The electrical safety education campaign conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection, fire volunteers, and barangay officials has led to increased awareness of fire safety, with respondents expressing "Strongly Agree" on its effectiveness, reflected in an overall weighted mean of 3.61. The campaign focused on preventing ignition sources and mechanisms related to fires caused by illegal wire connections and combustible materials. Furthermore, fire safety training received a "Strongly Agree" rating, with a weighted mean of 3.53, indicating that the training successfully enhanced participants' knowledge and improved their fire safety skills. The electrical safety education campaign conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection, fire volunteers, and barangay officials has significantly increased awareness of fire safety. Through the fire safety training, participants acquired valuable knowledge and enhanced their skills, which they can apply to protect themselves and others. As a result, it is recommended that households create a fire escape plan, ensuring that all members know at least two exit routes from every room and have a designated meeting place outside. Additionally, smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home, and outlets and cords should be used safely to avoid overloading.
