This study aims to enhance student learning and academic performance through collaborative learning, where mutual knowledge sharing fosters idea generation and positive academic outcomes. Collaborative learning involves joint intellectual efforts, enabling students to learn more effectively and retain information better than when studying independently. Research has shown that such collaborative activities lead to improved comprehension, critical-thinking skills, and a more positive attitude toward learning. Additionally, peer-led team learning, where students facilitate workshops for their peers, has demonstrated significant improvements in student engagement and academic achievement. By working together and sharing knowledge, students can develop new ideas and strategies, leading to enhanced academic performance. This study employed a quantitative experimental research design, utilizing a census sampling technique to involve all seventy-seven (77) respondents from the target population. A structured survey questionnaire was used as the primary data collection instrument to evaluate the acceptability of various assessment methods, including written work, performance tasks, and group assessments. The data collected were analyzed to determine the effectiveness of these assessment methods in enhancing student learning and academic performance. The study's findings indicate that implementing collaborative learning significantly enhances the academic performance of first-year mathematics majors. Collaborative learning strategies, such as Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL), have been associated with improved student engagement and success in mathematics courses. Additionally, active learning approaches that promote collaboration have been shown to reduce failure rates and increase student performance in STEM subjects. By incorporating collaborative learning methods, mathematics programs can foster a more effective and supportive learning environment, leading to better academic outcomes for students. This study recommends integrating collaborative learning strategies, such as think-pair-share and peer-teaching, into the educational process to enhance students' academic performance. Regular implementation of diverse collaborative techniques can foster critical thinking, improve understanding, and promote active engagement among students. Educators are encouraged to explore and apply various collaborative methods to continually enrich the learning experience and academic success of their students.
