Abstract

Work ethics are essential in determining how employees engage with one another and the people they serve. These ethics are the moral principles that guide employees' actions, decisions, and behavior in the workplace. In a department store, employee behavior aligned with the company's code of ethics is crucial for the success and reputation of the business. By adhering to ethical standards, employees contribute to a positive work culture, enhance customer satisfaction, and drive the overall growth and success of the company. The study used a quantitative research method, selecting fifty-two (52) respondents through purposive sampling from a department store in Quezon City. Data was collected by administering survey questionnaires to assess employee work behavior and their adherence to the company's code of ethics. The results indicate that the majority of respondents are aged 22 to 25, with 59.6% being female. The assessment highlights that the company’s code of ethics plays a vital role in strengthening employees' integrity by promoting responsibility, ensuring a safe and comfortable work environment, and addressing violations through effective communication and appropriate sanctions. However, the findings also reveal that the primary challenge faced by employees is miscommunication, which often leads to misunderstandings among coworkers. The findings indicate that employees view the workplace as a supportive environment that promotes professional development and ethical behavior. This underscores the importance of maintaining ethical standards to build a culture of excellence within the organization. The results further emphasize the need to create an environment where employees are encouraged and empowered to adhere to ethical principles, ultimately benefiting both their growth and the overall success of the company.
