Technology: Its Effects on Academic Performance of Selected Beed Graduating Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines, S.Y. 2019–2020

Abstract

Technology is extremely useful because it helps us connect with other people and allows us to learn and discover new things. Technology makes peoples’ lives easier and improves their way of life, especially students. Although technology is finally being integrated into education, its use for teaching and learning remains a challenge. Although many schools today are privileged to have ready access to technology, trained teachers, and a favorable policy environment, the use of technology in the classr2oom is still low. Many educators have difficulty in integrating technology into education because many educators have yet to explore the relationship between technology and pedagogy. Doing so can play a huge part in encouraging critical thinking by teachers as they attempt to integrate technology into education. A descriptive method of research was used here. Important data and ideas were gathered by researchers through observation,questionnaires, and unstructured interviews from 20 BEED graduating students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Questionnaires and unstructured interviews were used to gather data. The results of this study showed that the majority of respondents used technology such as computers, cellphone, and PowerPoint. The respondents also indicated that using technology makes them excited ad makes their activities colorful, thereby resulting in better output. However, problems, gaming, cost of maintaining the technology, and lack of resources, were also encountered by the students in using technology. Suggestions were also cited in the research to address the problems of using technology in teaching. Students should have more insight into the integration of technology and its importance in the teaching and learning process by attending seminars, training, and summer classes. Students should become more innovative in terms of using devices. School administrators should also provide technical resources to be used bythe students in teaching and learning.
