Abstract

The study of traffic management is vital in addressing the growing challenges of urban transportation. It examines key factors such as safety, efficiency, environmental impact, and social dynamics. By adopting a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach, this study aims to develop sustainable and effective strategies to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance overall transportation systems. This study utilized a descriptive research design with a purposive sampling technique, engaging 50 respondents. The participants comprised 20 pedestrians or commuters, 15 law enforcers, and 15 public transportation drivers, ensuring a well-rounded perspective on traffic management challenges and solutions. The researchers concluded that the respondents provided reliable data, strengthening the study's findings. The results indicate that traffic engineering significantly contributes to congestion, with factors such as road design, traffic flow management, and infrastructure playing a crucial role. Additionally, the lack of traffic education was identified as a key factor, highlighting how limited awareness, inadequate education, and non-compliance with traffic laws exacerbate congestion issues. Furthermore, inconsistent enforcement of traffic regulations, particularly in issuing citation tickets, was found to worsen congestion due to perceived unfair treatment of violators and inefficient enforcement strategies. It is recommended to implement comprehensive educational campaigns on traffic rules, laws, and regulations to enhance awareness and compliance among both drivers and pedestrians, ultimately reducing congestion. Additionally, ensuring consistent and fair enforcement of traffic laws, particularly in issuing citation tickets, is essential for maintaining order on the roads.

Investments in pedestrian infrastructure should be prioritized, including well-marked crosswalks, pedestrian signals, and safety islands, to improve pedestrian safety and facilitate smoother movement. Urban planning and development should incorporate pedestrian-friendly designs to enhance walkability and minimize conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles.

Moreover, promoting alternative modes of transportation—such as public transit, cycling, and walking—through improved infrastructure and awareness campaigns will encourage more sustainable and efficient commuting options, contributing to long-term traffic management solutions.
