Abstract

This study investigates the effect of technological advancements on employee productivity at RTK Siomai’s Factory in Quezon City. With the ongoing transformation of industrial operations through automation, it becomes essential to evaluate both the benefits and challenges of such advancements in the workplace. Grounded in Bhatti et al.'s theory on employee participation and its influence on job satisfaction, commitment, and productivity, this study focuses on assessing the changes brought by the implementation of the Automatic Siomai Machine. The objective is to compare productivity levels before and after the adoption of the new technology. A comparative research design was utilized, employing purposive sampling to select 15 employees who experienced both pre- and post-automation work conditions. Data were collected through structured survey questionnaires. Weighted mean was used to evaluate productivity levels, while a t-test was conducted to determine significant differences in employee productivity before and after the technological integration. The findings indicated a clear improvement in productivity following the introduction of the Automatic Siomai Machine. The mean score for downsizing improved from 2.00 to 3.33, reflecting better efficiency and risk management. Employee performance and overall productivity increased to mean scores of 2.88 and 2.87, respectively. Despite these gains, the study also noted recurring challenges, including machine-related technical issues, noise, and operational downtime, which affected workflow and employee adaptability. The study concludes that technological advancements such as automated machinery significantly enhance employee productivity. However, to maximize benefits, these improvements must be supported by human-centered strategies, including continuous training, technical assistance, and employee engagement. Balancing automation with worker development and well-being is essential for sustaining productivity and ensuring operational success.
