Abstract

In recent years, the increasing incidence of criminal activities has raised serious concerns among various sectors of society, underscoring the urgent need for more innovative and effective prevention strategies. This study explores alternative solutions to crime prevention and justice implementation in Barangay San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City. With growing recognition that traditional policing methods are no longer sufficient, the research emphasizes the importance of adopting adaptive strategies. These include fostering stronger community engagement and utilizing modern technological advancements to enhance the overall effectiveness of crime prevention efforts. This study will employ a mixed-methods approach, utilizing quantitative surveys to assess existing crime prevention strategies and qualitative interviews to gather in-depth community insights. Additionally, it will examine innovative practices from other contexts through document analysis. A purposive sampling method will be adopted, integrating elements of stratified sampling to ensure the inclusion of key stakeholder groups relevant to the study. The sample will consist of ten (10) police officers, ten (10) barangay officials, and thirty (30) community members, totaling fifty (50) participants. The majority of respondents were aged 42 and above, with at least 15 years of residency in Barangay San Agustin. Their evaluation of innovative solutions to address common crimes reflected a strong agreement with the effectiveness of community-based approaches, technological innovations, and digital tools. However, the barangay faces significant challenges, particularly stakeholder resistance to change and limited opportunities for collaboration and partnership. To address these concerns, the study recommends promoting stronger community involvement and fostering closer collaboration with law enforcement agencies to improve response times and enhance coordination between the barangay and key stakeholders. Based on the findings, the study recommends fostering stronger collaboration with law enforcement agencies to improve response times and enhance the implementation of innovative crime prevention strategies. This partnership would facilitate real-time data sharing, provide access to specialized expertise, and integrate technological tools with practical policing methods. Strengthening these collaborative efforts not only builds public trust but also allows for more agile and effective responses to emerging criminal threats. Ultimately, the results of this study provide valuable insights that can guide the development of comprehensive plans aimed at preventing crime and promoting community safety.
