Abstract

This study aims to analyze the preservation practices of the historic walls of Intramuros, Manila, as a foundation for developing an enhancement plan. To guide the research, specific questions were formulated. The study's respondents consisted of Intramuros tour guides, who provided valuable insights based on their firsthand experiences. A descriptive research design was utilized to assess the current state of preservation and identify areas requiring improvement. This study utilized a qualitative research approach, with 30 tour guides purposively selected to participate and provide insights into the preservation of the historic walls of Intramuros. A survey questionnaire served as the main tool for data collection, targeting Intramuros tour guides. The study also identified and examined the challenges they face in preserving the historic walls. The collected data were analyzed using percentage distribution and weighted mean. Drawing from the study’s findings, an enhancement plan was proposed for the Intramuros Administration to strengthen the safety measures and preservation efforts for the historic walls of Intramuros.
