Abstract

Social media is widely used nowadays. A lot of Filipino people depend on Facebook to gather
information as it is the most accessible social media that we know nowadays. Learning sex
education through Facebook pages is advantageous for teenagers who use social media in
their everyday lives. There are cases of social issues that are faced worldwide, including
teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and stigma about sexual orientation. The
researchers conducted the study entitled Facebook Page: A Platform for Sex Education that
aims to know how Facebook pages can be a platform for awareness, especially sex education
awareness.

Based on the gathered data, the first table got the composite mean of 3.17. This means that
the senior high school students believed in the importance of having sex education
awareness. The second table obtained a composite mean of 3.13. This means that the
respondents are aware of and have gathered information on sex education. The third table
shows a composite mean of 1.98. It basically means that senior high school students do not
usually browse Facebook Pages to get reliable information on sex education.

The Grade 12 Senior High students of Bestlink College of the Philippines - Bulacan Inc.
recognized the significance of acquiring enough knowledge on sex education, particularly in
schools. They also acknowledge Facebook Pages as an alternative social media source for
sex education awareness. They are informed about sex education and the consequences of
being unaware of it. However, most of the respondents hardly browse Facebook because they
are unable to acquire reliable information related to sex education.
