Abstract

Among all the significant contributors to environmental waste, schools were chosen as one of
the major contributors to environmental waste because of the waste generation rate and
composition. Waste from schools can take many different forms, including plastic waste. This
waste is difficult to dispose of since it is not biodegradable. The garbage could cause
environmental issues like unpleasant pollutants and chemicals in the air, water, and land,
most probably on the school grounds. The researchers came up with the idea of making a
device that solved this problem. Researchers innovated a waste segregation robot that
separates papers and plastic bottles. And lessen the workload of the cleaning personnel in the
segregation of the trash. This device is operated by a Bluetooth module app to move toward
its destination. This device is powered by a battery of 1200mAh lithium ion 18650 battery with
a maximum of 3.7v lithium-ion battery.

This chapter presents detailed findings according to the method that was presented in
Chapter 2. It details the hardware and software of the prototype, and it also presents the
findings of conducted tests of solid waste in segregation, DC motor test speed, and
connection Bluetooth module to app. the schematic diagram that the researchers followed to
know the functionality of each pin and find out the wiring connectivity of the motors, ultrasonic
sensors, IR sensor, and Speaker to Arduino Uno. This is the complete overview of a solid
waste management and collecting system.

According to the data gathered, the majority of respondents are male, with 67% ranging in age
from 19 to 29 years old, and with the highest educational attainment is Tertiary 82%. The
evaluation of the survey shows that the target users agree with the proposed prototype, as the
weighted mean of all indicators shows 3.36 based on the Likert scale rating.
