Abstract

Many students are inactive in the class, and one of the reasons is that they lack self-confidence. Most of these students are having their cases. Self-confidence is trusting one’s abilities, qualities, and judgment. Low self-esteem is a companion for many people, especially those who experience depression, anxiety, phobias, delusional thinking, or who have an illness or a disability. The importance of this topic is to know how we can improve our self-confidence to achieve our goals and make the students aware of their fellow students. This is significant because as an Accountancy, Business, and Management(ABM)student, in addition to analyzing, we also do public speaking. However, it can be difficult to feel good about yourself when you are under stress because of symptoms that are hard to manage. This study aims to help students to avoid losing their self-confidence and help improve themselves. This study used a descriptive research design to describe or explain the study also whether public speaking improved the self-confidence of Grade 12 ABM students. The respondents were 50Grade 12 ABMstudents from sections 12-01 to 12-09 MWF class schedules that were selected through convenience sampling. Based on the results of the study, conducting public-speaking activities improved the self-confidence of Grade 12 ABM students in terms of (1) reporting and research defense reporting, which can improve the self-confidence of the student (the student can answer confidently and overcome their nervousness during research presentation), (2) recitation (the student can confidently answer in the recitation and actively participates in class and lastly acquired high grade in the good performance), and (3) performing individual activities (performing individual activities can improve the self-confidence of the student during reporting and research defense, thereby allowing them to confidently participate in this activities. Based on the findings, the following recommendations were made by the researchers: The students should actively participate in the class activities and other public speaking engagements in school. Teachers should motivate their students and create more activities to build their self-confidence. The school administrators should continue conducting school activities that build and improve the self-confidence of the senior high school students.
