Abstract

This topic is all about the effects of installing bookshelves inside the classrooms. The reason for this study is to have a recommendation or an action in improving the reading skills of the learners. The purpose is to develop and train the students, especially their reading and comprehension skills. The knowledge of the students should be improved where they can equip themselves into more productive individuals. This study used the survey method because it is the easiest method to gather information from the respondents. This study used a quasi-experimental design focused on providing bookshelves as an additional tool for academic and leisure reference. The researchers also used a descriptive research design because it will affect the result of the study and the conclusion of the findings. The respondents of the study were 50 selected Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management students of Bestlink College of the Philippines from sections 12-08 and 12-15. This study used a nonprobability sample because it is commonly used when any member of the population is unknown. The respondents were selected through convenience sampling because the researchers conducted a survey based on the availability of the respondents. A positive effect was observed in training and development of the student about building up their skills and abilities, especially in practicing managing, applying planning, practicing organizing, improving presentation, and expressing creativity because these are the reasons to build student skills and abilities. There is a positive effect in improving the management skills of the students, especially for maintaining practice reading, organizing skills, budgeting skills, presentation skills, practicing short-and long-term planning, time management, improvising materials, creativity skills, self-discipline, and orderliness. The researchers recommended that the students should collect books for the bookshelves by conducting a campaign. The researchers also recommended having an activity about reading books for the students to become active in class and implementing a program about having creative rooms because it opens opportunities for reading books.
