Abstract

This research is about the importance of reducing violence and vandalism to the comfort rooms and corridors of BCP. The researchers chose this topic because we want each part of the school to be clean even if it is not always seen by students. This study shows that basic social problems and attitudes are the root causes of vandalism. Vandalism is still and will always be a growing problem unless we do something about it. Vandalism involves destroying other people’s property, such as benches and windows. The researchers want to resolve this problem to lessen the vandalism in our society. This study used a descriptive research design, which describes the characteristics of the population or phenomenon that is being studied. In our study, we used the survey method because it is the most applicable tool to use in our study. The respondents of the study were 50 Grade 12 students, that is,25 males and 25 females. The researchers used convenience sampling because the respondents were chosen based on their availability. Based on the results of the study, the following are the factors that influence why Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and ManagementStrandstudents want to vandalize inside the comfort room. (1) Family problem –Family problem is one of the huge problems that cause a child to rebel. It influences the mindset of the students to think that they are not loved by their parents. (2) Bullying –Bullying also influences the mind of a teenager. It can cause loss of self-confidence and self-worth; hence, vandalism is their only way to express their feelings and wants. (3) Form of expression –Students are vandalizing as they see it as a form of expression; peer pressure is one of the things that causes the students to vandalize. As they see on other teenagers, they imitate their action that they think is right and kind of fun to do. The students must be responsible for their actions. They should know what is right and wrong, keep in mind that vandalizing does not make one cool, and learn how to open your heart and thoughts and feelings to someone you are comfortable with, especially to your family and friends. It will also be a great help if the students will be oriented about the rules and policies about vandalism. Having a freedom wall where the students can freely express their feelings may lessen the vandalism inside the school premises.
