Abstract

This research is all about the assessment of the effectiveness of using online library sources in improving the collection of review of related literature and studies of Grade 12 students. This study was conducted because the students lack sources in completing their review of related literature and studies in their research. This study aimed to enlighten the students that they must not settle with books and the usual websites that they are only familiar with; instead, they should explore and discover better search tools and engines in collecting related references for their studies. The researchers used a quasi-experimental research design research that resembles experimental research and a survey method to gather information from the respondents. A total of 98 Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM)students from ABM 12-02 were selected as the experimental group, and those from ABM 12-03 were chosen as the controlled group. The respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Based on the results of the study, using online library sources improved the data collection of grade 12 students and had a significant difference in doing research papers in terms of (1) collecting accurate and legitimate data, which is extremely significant in doing a research paper because it defines the overall sense of the paper, and (2) avoiding plagiarism, which is one of the largest problems in doing research). Based on this study, using library sources will improve the research skills of the students most especially in avoiding plagiarism because those websites already have the complete list of citations. The difference in the data collection between students in ABM 12-02 who are using online library sources to gather information than those in ABM 12-03 who do not use online library sources was significant. The researchers recommended that students should explore the websites that the researchers introduced. Teachers should also study how to use those websites to teach their students. School administrators should add those websites to the curriculum, especially in Practical Research 1, and 2 and consider having online library sources that are accessible to the Bestlink students. Future researchers can use bulletin boards to introduce those websites that will help the students, especially researchers.
