Abstract

One of the main problems of residence in Tierra Benita San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan is the daily cross in the dirty river from their place to Phase 10 B Bagong Silang and vice versa. The residents have difficulty in crossing the river even they live in it for a decade and more because of its flow. Occasionally, the river will get higher whenever Angat Dam lets out water. The river is also unclean and unsafe for the residence to cross. Quantitative research was used as the research design for the study while utilizing a population sampling to gather respondents in assessing the level of acceptability of the footbridge miniature. Using a questionnaire, the researchers conducted a survey to determine whether the proposed project is acceptable in terms of concept, structural design, constructing materials, and presentation. The results of the study in terms of construction materials, procedural methodology, mechanism, and presentation were highly acceptable as assessed by 5th-year Civil Engineering students and 4th-year Architecture students in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. This result indicated a significant difference between the assessments of the two groups of respondents in terms of the cited variables. The 5th-year Civil Engineering students obtained an overall weighted mean of 3.57, which was interpreted as highly acceptable with a variance of 0.0128. Meanwhile, 4th-year Architecture students obtained an overall weighted mean of 3.93, which was interpreted as highly acceptable with a variance of 0.0621. Both results had the t-computed value of 0.92 and a degree of freedom of 18, with a value of 0.05. The t-computed value is larger than the t-critical value. As a result, the assessments of the two groups of respondents were accepted. The subsequent discussions forwarded by the two groups of the respondents are as follows: refer to design guidelines and construction code that are applicable for the miniature, search more about the best materials as possible, and improve the presentation.
