Abstract

Students are always absent for several reasons, such as sickness and major illness, accidents, and health problems. Some students also experience personal problems such as mental, emotional, and financial. However, most of the time, the reasons for the students’ absenteeism are negative. The purpose of this study was to conduct community service to lessen absenteeism among Accountancy, Business, and Management Strandstudents of Bestlink College of the Philippines. Conducting community service is the best way to discipline students who are always absent in school. The researchers used the descriptive method as the research design. The instruments used for the research were random sampling, survey, and questionnaire to gather data. The researchers read and applied various local and foreign literature and studies. The finished final draft was validated by the research teacher. The researchers requested the permission of the principal and the research headteacher to research the school. The researchers used a weighted mean to ensure the validity and reliability of the results. The results showed that conducting community service can lessen absenteeism among Grade 12 students. Therefore, the researchers, the reasons why most of the students are always absent in school are because of health problems, own interests, family problems, financial problems, and problems in school as Grade 12 students. The results showed that the student’s absenteeism in class can be solved by conducting community service. Most of the students are always absent in school are because of health problems, own interests, family problems, financial problems, and problems in school as Grade 12 students. Parents are still involved in the absenteeism of the students due to financial problems. Having good communication and interpersonal skills can diminish absenteeism among students and can avoid shyness. The parents must motivate the student to participate more in recitation, group activities, extracurricular activities, individual activities, and writing lectures. The school should also conduct community service to students to lessen absenteeism.
