Abstract

This research focused on how newspaper affects the academic performance of students in terms of diligence and creativity in school. The study revealed the aspects that may lead to the poor academic performance of grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management Strandstudents of Bestlink College of the Philippines. This study used descriptive with the mixed qualitative method. The data were collected through questionnaires. A total of 50 respondents were randomly chosen to answer the survey questionnaires. Five participants were chosen from each section to answer the questionnaire. The survey consisted of five multiple-choice questions, four questions, and four subsection questions. Respondents were given 10 min to answer the survey questionnaire. Diligence and creativity are some factors that affect the academic performance of the students. The results of this study also proved that students are mentally sound regarding recycled things that can be useful. The study revealed that newspaper has an impact on the academic performance of students mostly because of the plastic pollution they see from our environment. The study also showed that students have a problem choosing between prioritizing their personal lives or school activities, which may lead to the nonparticipation of the students in making assignments, thereby resulting in low quiz scores and poor class performance.
