Whirlpool Turbine in Wawa Dam as Electricity Producer
Keywords:
whirlpool turbine, electricity producerAbstract
Whirlpool Turbine is a low-pressure turbine with a submersible generator fitted inside it that generates electricity that is sufficient to power up to 60 houses 24/7 without harming nature and aquatic life. It is said to be placed in Wawa Dam, Rodriguez Rizal because it is a tourist attraction; thus, they need to acquire more electricity, and it is running water. The research method design utilized in this study was quantitative analysis. The participants of the study who answered the questionnaire were five professional electrical engineers and five 5th-year Mechanical Engineering students to test the significant differences in the level of acceptability of Whirlpool Turbine in terms of construction material, procedural methodology, durability, electricity production, and model structure by using t-test at the level of significance of =0.01 and degree freedom of 8. The findings of the study showed that in terms of construction materials, procedural methodology, durability, electricity production, and model structure are highly acceptable. The difference between the assessment of two groups of respondents on the level of acceptability of Whirlpool Turbine in Wawa dam as electricity producer in terms of construction materials, procedural methodology, durability, electricity production, and model structure was significant. Both recommendations/suggestions of the two groups of respondents are necessary to improve the quality of Whirlpool Turbine. The recommendations can be forwarded to improve the project, such as providing the effectiveness of the product. The researchers must show measurements in terms of the materials used in the products. To show the stability of the product, the researchers must show data and result for the respondents to agree with the indicators. To show the unique product, the researchers must try something new or different that can also sustain electricity aside from hydropower.
