Abstract

Scheduling is a complex challenge in any industry, but managing a flight crew schedule adds an extra layer of difficulty. Airline crew schedulers must create efficient schedules that meet strict requirements, such as assigning pilots to specific aircraft, while also considering employee preferences like preferred shifts and vacation days. As crew sizes and flight numbers increase, scheduling becomes even more computationally intensive. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Flyhigh and Connect software in managing cabin crew schedules, evaluate their efficacy, and identify common software issues experienced by users. This study involved reviewing previous research and conducting Likert-scale surveys among cabin crew members who met specific criteria. The focus was on their experiences, perspectives, and insights regarding both software applications, particularly in terms of ease of use and effectiveness in organizing schedules. The findings identified the software with the highest efficiency in assisting with cabin crew schedule management. According to the majority of respondents, Flyhigh Software proved to be more efficient, offering features that better align with their scheduling needs. The results also confirmed that software tools significantly help in organizing flight schedules. However, respondents also reported common challenges, including complex navigation and usability difficulties in both software applications. The study highlights that software applications are valuable tools for managing flight schedules, with Flyhigh Software being the preferred choice. However, Connect Software also provides useful features that support schedule organization. Despite their benefits, both software applications require improvements in user-friendliness, particularly in simplifying navigation to enhance performance and user satisfaction.
