Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a low-cost alarm and monitoring system in addressing misplaced luggage among travelers. The system is designed to ensure the security of passenger belongings against loss or theft. While numerous studies have explored the causes of luggage misplacement, few have proposed effective solutions. Given the significant impact of lost luggage on the airline industry, this study highlights the importance of implementing preventive measures. This research employed a quantitative method, focusing on travelers' perceptions of the device’s acceptability and efficiency. A survey questionnaire was used to assess key aspects, including sensor efficiency, tracking accuracy, functionality, technical reliability, and user-friendliness. Additionally, the study examined issues encountered by travelers and gathered recommendations for improvement. Findings revealed that most respondents were male, single, and between the ages of 21 and 30. The majority found the alarm system effective in terms of sensor efficiency, tracking, functionality, and ease of use. However, common issues included limited coverage range and short battery life. To improve the adoption of this technology, awareness campaigns should be conducted, particularly targeting frequent travelers and individuals prone to misplacing their belongings.
