Abstract

The Philippines has traditionally experienced a significant level of gun violence, and numerous communities continue to regard it as a major issue. The discussion regarding gun control and preventive strategies has moved to the forefront in recent years because of the alarming increase in crime rates and incidents of gun-related violence. The research employed a descriptive research approach and a convenience sampling method. The participants included 326 staff members from the Bureau of Corrections located in Muntinlupa City. The results demonstrate that the policies positively influence peace and order, security, as well as the safety and welfare of both personnel and offenders. Notwithstanding, the research points out that a lack of adequate coordination and collaboration between various departments constitutes a significant issue in the execution of policies. This research suggests enhancing surveillance and oversight within the institutions to discourage unlawful firearm ownership and enhance adherence to prevention regulations. Furthermore, the research underscores the significance of tackling gun violence and advancing policy execution to guarantee the safety and welfare of personnel and inmates in correctional institutions.
