Impactsof Work Immersion on Future Employment on Selected Grade 12 General Academic Strand Students of Bestlink College of the Philippines, S.Y. 2019–2020

Abstract

Work immersion refers to exposing students to the actual workplace setting and enriching the competencies provided by the school. Work immersion consists of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation accordingly in the senior high school curriculum. The researchers conducted this study to determine the impact of Work Immersion on future employment on selected Grade 12 General Academic Strand students. The researchers used the quantitative descriptive method. This study used purposive sampling to choose 50 General Academic Strand respondents that assess the impact of work immersion on future employment. Based on the summary, the weighted means for male and female respondents were 3.93 and 4.18 for female respondents, respectively, both of which strongly agreed that knowledge has an impact on work immersion in the future employment of students. With the weighted means of 3.59 for male respondents and 4.00 for female respondents, both groups strongly agreed that skills have an impact on work immersion in the future employment of students. With the weighted means of 3.74 for male respondents and 4.00 for female respondents, both groups strongly agreed that work ethics have an impact on work immersion in the future employment of students. With the overall weighted mean of 3.75 for male respondents and 4.16 for female respondents, both groups strongly agreed that knowledge, skills, and work ethics has an impact on work immersion in the future employment of the students. Based on the findings of the study and the conclusion drawn, the following suggestions were forwarded. Students should be prepared for their future jobs as they learn in different sectors of learning. Students were learning to develop their knowledge in terms of the job they are going to pursue in the future. The superiors should conduct an exam before, during, and after the student’s training. To familiarize their skills in doing the job assigned to them during their work immersion training, such as skills in entertaining and manipulating software needed. Students should also conduct seminars, training, and workshops to develop their skills. Meanwhile, to improve their work ethics, the student should take note of the things they should and shouldn't do to their workmates and they should also attend an orientation on how they are going to treat their superiors.
