Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between employee training and organizational performance at the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PHILCAT) in Quezon City. It evaluates existing training programs, identifies areas for improvement, and proposes targeted strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness. Data collected through survey questionnaires provides insights into employee perspectives, contributing to both theoretical understanding and practical applications in today's dynamic healthcare environment. This study employed a descriptive quantitative research design, utilizing simple random sampling to select 144 respondents from the 288 employees of the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PHILCAT) in Quezon City. Data were collected through survey questionnaires to assess the relationship between employee training and organizational performance. The study's findings indicate a balanced gender representation among respondents, with each gender comprising 50% (72 out of 144 respondents). A significant portion of participants (35.41%) are aged between 26 and 30 years. Notably, 85.42% are employed in the Operations Department, and 90.29% have a tenure of 1 to 3 years with PHILCAT.  The evaluation of current training programs reveals high effectiveness, with composite mean scores ranging from 3.87 to 3.88. These scores suggest that the training initiatives are well-implemented and significantly enhance functional performance, skills assessment, and key performance dimensions. Additionally, the assessment of skills and potential indicates a substantial impact on organizational performance, reflected by composite mean scores between 3.86 and 3.89. This underscores the positive influence of training on employees' knowledge, skills, and attitudes.  These findings align with existing literature emphasizing the critical role of training in boosting employee performance and organizational outcomes. For instance, a study highlighted that training is essential for achieving organizational goals, as it equips employees with necessary knowledge and skills. Furthermore, research indicates that training and development significantly improve the quality of health services, emphasizing the need for ongoing employee development. To enhance the effectiveness of its training programs, the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT) should consider implementing the following best practices:  Conduct Regular Needs Assessments: Identify knowledge and skill gaps among employees to tailor training programs effectively. This ensures that training addresses specific areas requiring improvement, leading to better performance and patient care.    Personalize Training Programs: Develop training initiatives that cater to the diverse roles, experiences, and learning preferences of employees. Personalized training enhances engagement and facilitates the practical application of knowledge in clinical settings.    Foster a Culture of Continuous Learning: Encourage ongoing professional development to keep staff updated on the latest healthcare practices and technologies. A culture that promotes lifelong learning leads to improved job satisfaction and retention.    Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Involve SMEs in the development and delivery of training programs to ensure content accuracy and relevance. Their expertise enriches the training material, making it more applicable to real-world scenarios.   Implement Continuous Evaluation and Feedback: Regularly assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations and feedback mechanisms. This approach allows for timely adjustments, ensuring that the training remains aligned with organizational goals and employee needs.    By adopting these strategies, PhilCAT can enhance its training programs, leading to improved employee performance and better organizational outcomes.
