Employee performance is significantly influenced by recognition and acknowledgment from employers. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of employee recognition on performance within the Building and Grounds Maintenance Services Department at the House of Representatives in Quezon City. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed, utilizing a purposive quota sampling technique. The study involved 44 rank-and-file full-time employees from the department. Findings indicate that 70.45% of the respondents are male, with the largest age group being 41–45 years old (25%). Most participants are high school graduates (65.91%) with 4–5 years of service (34.09%). Employee recognition was rated as "Highly Evident" in terms of rewards (3.71), promotions (3.38), peer recognition (3.63), and career development (3.37). Similarly, performance was also rated "Highly Evident" in attendance (3.71), behavior (3.72), and ratings (3.79). However, statistical analysis showed no significant relationship between recognition and employee performance. To enhance recognition efforts, the department should customize recognition programs based on individual employee preferences. Addressing the lack of growth opportunities, professional development programs should be introduced to support career advancement. Aligning recognition efforts with company values and incorporating acknowledgment into team meetings can foster a culture of appreciation. Despite the absence of a direct correlation between recognition and performance, employees are encouraged to strive for excellence to earn recognition. The study recommends implementing transparent ranking and rating systems for employees and adopting guidelines to improve the recognition process within the department.
