Assessment on Effects of Creating Green Ambiance Classroom in Academic Behavior of Selected ABM Grade 12 Students

Classroom ambiance added enthusiasm and motivation for the students to be more interested and inspired in attending their classes. This positively affects their academic behavior and outputs. The researchers created a green ambiance classroom to help improve the academic behavior of the students and tested its significant effect onthe academic behavior of Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) Strandstudents. The results of the study werecompared with the academic behavior of the students with natural classroom ambianceor without green ambiance. This study used a quasi-experimental design and gathered the data needed by using the survey method, wherein it is the most applicable and easiest way. The respondents of the study were selected using quota sampling. A total of 49Grade 12 ABM students from section 1201 were used as the control group without installation of plants creating green ambiance, and another 49Grade 12 ABM students from section 1202 were considered as the experimental group with the installation of plants inside their classroom. Based on the results of the study, installing indoor plants in the classroom created a green ambiance classroom and had a significant difference in the academic behavior of the selected Grade 12 students’ respondents in terms of the following: (1) Sense of responsibility –Students from section 1202 became more focused on their studies and increase their motivation in doing the most important. (2) Maintain good attendance –Students from section 1202 became active in attending their classes and avoid tardiness instead of cutting classes and incurring absences through of good ambiance of the classroom. (3) Increase the productivity in doing school works –Students from section 1202 became more productive in accomplishing their school works. They became more focused and determined in doing academic tasks on time. The results of the study came up with a recommendation beneficial to the following: (1) Students can provide their plant to contribute for implementing the green ambiance andmaintaining the plants. (2) Teachers can serve as a guide to the students. (3) School administrators can implement the green ambiance for the whole school or conduct a vegetable planting in a particular area in the school. (4) Future researchers can develop a creative rack/cabinet for the plants inside the classroom.
