Abstract

Research is the heart of progress. Undeniably, the quality of life we experience right now is an outcome of every research endeavor. As a student, it is a rewarding experience to contribute to the development of our nation and the world through intellect and determination. Research makes one a thinking individual who is ready to take on a higher, wider, and deeper perspective. To overcome this struggle and become a productive citizen of our country, it is necessary to consider some factors that affect the learning of a student; failing to learn these things may affect the academic excellence of a student and the development of the country as a whole. This research used a qualitative method to determine the factors that affect the learning of students in their Research subject. The researchers also administered a survey questionnaire to gather information from selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences Strand students at Bestlink College of the Philippines; the researchers used purposive sampling to determine the number of respondents. Based on the results of the study, teacher’s teaching strategies mostly affect the student’s learning in the Research subject, with a composite average of 4.32. Availability of books is the 2nd aspect that affects the learning of the students, with the composite of 17. Lastly, study habit is the last factor that affects their learning, with a composite average of 4.1 and interpreted as “agree.” The results of this study showed that students and teachers must perform their tasks for learning. Teachers must think of an effective teaching strategy to help students learn. Meanwhile, students must maintain their study habits and improve their knowledge by studying.
