Abstract

The city of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, Philippines, has undergone significant demographic changes marked by a rapid influx of population. As urbanization continues to reshape the social and economic landscape, it becomes crucial to examine the implications of these changes, particularly in relation to crime dynamics. This study aims to evaluate the rising population and its association with crime incidents in Barangay Muzon East, San Jose del Monte. Furthermore, it seeks to assess the effectiveness of the barangay’s measures in maintaining peace and order and reducing the impact of population growth on community crime rates. This study will utilize a quantitative research design. The researchers selected fifty (50) respondents, both male and female, who are residents of Barangay Muzon East, City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Purposive sampling was employed to identify and select the respondents who best represent the community for the purposes of this study. The results of this study show that the majority of respondents have witnessed and encountered problems related to population influx and its connection to crimes committed in Barangay Muzon East, City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. To address these concerns, the study recommends increasing the visibility of Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) and providing additional manpower to strengthen the barangay’s presence and ensure a safer community. This study recommends that the Barangay Officials of Brgy. Muzon East, City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan conduct seminars for family representatives to raise awareness about the extent of the community’s crime problems. These seminars should also provide emergency contact numbers for quick response. Additionally, members of the Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) should be trained in basic self-defense and well-oriented in apprehension procedures to effectively maintain peace and order.
