THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CRIME INTERVENTION PROGRAM ON PREVENTING CRIME IN NOVALICHES PROPER, QUEZON CITY

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of crime intervention programs in preventing crime in Novaliches Proper, Quezon City. It focuses on three main areas: rationalized patrol plans, logistical requirements, and community policing. The study also aims to identify the demographic profile of the respondents, including age, sex, and civil status, and to determine how they assess the effectiveness of crime intervention programs in terms of these three components. The researchers involved a total of fifty (50) participants residing in Novaliches Proper, Quezon City. The respondents included ten (10) police officers and forty (40) residents. A questionnaire was used as the main research instrument to gather data and obtain information relevant to the objectives of the study. The results showed that active involvement in crime prevention, collaboration with neighborhood organizations, and regular evaluation of intervention programs were among the main recommendations provided by the respondents. Findings indicated that inadequate crime prevention programs had a frequency of 39, equivalent to 10.77%. The recommendations that ranked highest in enhancing the effectiveness of crime prevention programs included encouraging community members to participate in crime prevention through neighborhood watch and community policing, partnering with local organizations such as schools, churches, and community centers to provide resources and support, and regularly evaluating intervention programs to assess their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. These strategies obtained the highest frequency of 49, equivalent to 10.86%, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in crime prevention.
