Abstract

Domestic violence remains a critical social issue affecting numerous families across the Philippines, including those in Barangay Fairview, Quezon City. It occurs when a family member inflicts physical, emotional, psychological, or economic harm on another, often within the confines of the home. Addressing this issue at the grassroots level is essential, and this study aims to assess the effectiveness of barangay-level intervention programs designed to respond to and mitigate domestic violence within the local community. This study utilized a descriptive research design to evaluate the effectiveness of domestic violence intervention programs. Descriptive statistics were employed to summarize the key features of the collected data. A total of 50 respondents were purposively selected and divided into two groups: 10 barangay personnel directly involved in handling domestic violence cases and 40 victims of domestic violence who had reported their cases to the barangay. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires, and results were analyzed using frequency distribution, weighted mean, and table presentations. Findings showed that respondents generally perceived the intervention programs as effective, with an overall weighted mean of 3.45. The highest-rated indicator, “Domestic violence cases in our barangay are resolved within a reasonable time frame” (WM = 3.50), indicates confidence in the prompt handling of cases. However, the lowest-rated indicator, “Follow-up actions are consistently implemented after case resolution” (WM = 3.40), highlights a need for improvement in providing continuous support and monitoring after initial case closure. The study concludes that barangay-level intervention programs in Barangay Fairview are effective in addressing domestic violence, particularly in the timely resolution of reported cases. However, the findings also suggest a gap in long-term victim support, as follow-up actions are not consistently implemented. It is recommended that barangay officials strengthen post-resolution services through sustained counseling, monitoring, and reintegration programs to ensure comprehensive victim protection and recovery.
