Abstract

In the past decade, mental health services have seen increased accessibility, yet their availability to senior high school students remains a challenge. Many students opt not to disclose their mental health concerns due to societal stigma and limited resources, hindering their access to necessary assistance. Addressing this issue requires concerted efforts from families, friends, and institutions. The aforementioned should provide support, foster open communication, and collaboratively navigate conflicts. Institutions, in particular, must facilitate access to services and develop tailored programs to alleviate these barriers. These initiatives aim to mitigate mental health issues among senior high school students, thereby enhancing their overall productivity. Strategies aimed at enhancing access to mental health services for students should prioritize enhancing mental health literacy, diminishing stigma, and respecting young individuals' desires for autonomy.

The purpose of this study is to assess The Accessibility and Utilization of Mental Health Services among Senior high School Students of Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study aims to understand the typical demographic characteristics of these students, the effectiveness of counseling programs, the significance of conducting them for Grade 12 HUMSS students, and the perceived barriers to accessing mental health services. Using descriptive design, systematic information from the respondents will be obtained by describing a phenomenon, situation, and population. The findings of this study will provide important information on addressing the barriers that prevent students from accessing mental health services. The implications of this research extend beyond the valuable insights for students, mental health professionals, educators, and parents, aiming to improve the quality and image of mental health services and foster the mental well-being of senior high school students.
