Abstract

This study's objective is to ascertain the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on teachers' mental health. Faculty members from Bestlink College of the Philippines (BCP) College of Teacher Education (CTE) department serve as the study's respondents. Considering the increase in COVID-19 cases, our research decided to find out the possible impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on people, particularly the teachers, on how they deal with their mental health issues by managing their students' complaints, time management, internet stability, teaching performance, teaching environment, and workloads. And look for the possible solutions to the problem.

The researchers used a descriptive method of collection, which evaluates and determines the effect of the pandemic on the mental health of the College of Teacher Education Instructors at Bestlink College of the Philippines. This design enables the researchers to explain who, why, what, and how the study is. This is also a qualitative research design because it determined the effect of the pandemic on the mental health of the College of Teacher Education instructors. This study will involve fifty (50) CTE instructors from the first-year and fourth-year levels at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The researcher used a simple random research technique to get the needed data for the specific questions stated in the problem statement. The main instrument used by the researchers in this study was the questionnaire. The researchers designed the questionnaire in conducting the study; it was divided into two parts: Part 1 is the profile of the respondents, and Part 2 is the questionnaire proper. The 1st year to 4th Year College of Teacher Education faculty who participated in the survey regarding the pandemic's effect on the CTE instructors' mental health regarding internet stability and workloads were told that the worst internet connection made their teaching performance less effective. Likewise, the lesson delivery was ruined by an inconsistent internet connection. The teachers frequently felt worn out to maintain the educational system during the COVID-19 outbreak. One solution to lessen the problem of the teachers is to prepare asynchronous activities in case of connection loss and balance their time properly between work life and personal life.

The results demonstrate the effect of the pandemic not only on the CTE instructors but also on other teachers all over the Philippines. The teachers should inform the administrators/colleagues that the pandemic brought a negative effect on their mental health state. They must encourage themselves to adopt a positive mental attitude. Also, they must know their solution to overcome the effect.
